Thought for hours and couldn’t come up with any better New Year surprise for you all than these decadent mocha orange brownies.
Cakey on the outside and fudgy in the middle, these brownies are sure to satisfy your deepest chocolate cravings. Packed with the decadence of chocolate and coffee, crunch of almonds and the perfect balance of citrus and sweetness, with this classic fusion of chocolate orange, these brownies are as ever, heaven to your taste buds.
So without much ado let’s get started….
Begin with the special treat of this bake… Juicy-Tangy-Orangy orange… Freshly squeezed orange juice and freshly grated orange zest are essential to this recipe. These brownies owe that citrus kick to the decadence of chocolate, to the extracts from fresh oranges.
The blend of white and brown sugars yields that perfect fudgy inside of these brownies. Whereas a small amount if baking powder in this recipe gives them a delectable cakey exterior.
Sift and whisk together the dry ingredients in the recipe. Butter and both sugars are then melted over low heat in a saucepan. Orange juice is added to help dissolve the sugars in it. Heating orange juice with sugars does intensify and enhance it’s flavour and richness.
Continue to whisk till you get a homogenous blend of all. Something like this.
Bring the pan off the flame and add in eggs
Whisk in the zest and vanilla extract as well.
Dissolve some instant coffee granules in a small amount of hot water and add that to your brownie batter .
Now whisk in all the dry ingredients and some Coarsely chopped almonds.
Pour in a well greased 9×9 inch ovenproof dish and stick it in the oven for about a good 25 minutes.
And once your skewer comes out clean with a little crumbs of sticky brownie fudge…….mmmmmmmmm your brownies are ready to be out of the oven and the pan.
To prepare the frosting, just heat together some dark chocolate, butter, orange zest, orange juice coffee and a little icing sugar . Once the chocolate and butter melt, remove the pan from heat and whisk in the remaining icing sugar till the frosting thickens slightly yet stays pourable.
And the sure gain of all this labour is utter loveeeee. Mmmmmmmmm mouth melting- finger licking decedent heavenly delight .
Welcome this New Year with a warm sweetness of my bakes. Keep sharing the love just as I do with you all.
