Ingredients
  1. 200 grams butter, softened at room temperature
  2. 1-1/2 cups castor sugar
  3. 4 eggs
  4. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  5. 1/2 teaspoon orange extract
  6. 1 tablespoon orange zest
  7. 2 cups flour
  8. 2 teaspoons baking powder
  9. 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  10. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  11. 1/2 cup buttermilk
  12. A pinch orange food colour
  13. 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven at 180°C. Grease an 8 inch loaf pan with butter.
  2. Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  3. Cream together butter and sugar till smooth and light. Add in one egg at a time and beat well. Beat in both extracts and orange zest.
  4. Now beat in flour mixture. Mix food colour in buttermilk and add it to the batter. Finally add in orange juice as well. Mix all till well combined.
  5. Pour batter in prepared baking pan and bake for 35 minutes or till a toothpick inserted in the centre of the cake comes out clean.
