The Best Strawberry Jam Ever

This strawberry jam is bound to be your favourite jam recipe you have made thus far. That little orange marmalade kick to the mundane strawberry jam with apples to give body-texture and fullness, this happens to be one of my best jams ever. Your kids won’t do with one jam toast anymore, so get ready to prepare a good stock of this fruity goodness.
My secret ingredient; the black treacle just does the trick. It too wonderfully accentuates the caramelised flavours of all fruits and contributes a rich colour and texture to my jam.

Ingredients
  1. 2 lbs/1 kg Strawberries, hulled and halved
  2. 2 apples, grated and peeled (I used green baking apples)
  3. Peel of 1 large orange, grated and blanched
  4. 1/2 cup orange juice
  5. 3 cups sugar
  6. 2 tablespoons black treacle
  7. 1/4 cup lemon juice
  8. Few drops strawberry extract
  9. Few drops orange extract
Instructions
  1. In a large cooking pot mix together strawberries and sugar and let sit for 2 hours. Or if in a hurry you may mix all ingredients together and let cook.
  2. Grate Orange peel and let it cook in boiling water for 7 minutes.
  3. Add your blanched orange peel, peeled and grated apples and orange juice to the strawberry sugar mixture in the pot and mix them all thoroughly.
  4. Cook for 2-3 hours till the jam reaches desired consistency. Place a small plate in the freezer. Once the jam cooks down, drop a spoonful of jam on the chilled plate, in a few seconds jam will hold its final consistency and you will know if the jam has reached your preferred thickness.
  5. Fill in sterilised jars and refrigerate.
